As part of the first cooperative venture of its kind between the University of Haifa and the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research Institute, a festive cornerstone laying ceremony was held launching the construction of the deep sea research labs for the Harry and Leona Helmsley Mediterranean Sea Research Center at the University of Haifa. “This is a historic partnership that will substantially advance sea research in Israel. We are proud of this cooperation, which further establishes the University of Haifa as the leading Israeli research university for sea,” said University's President Amos Shapira.

The issue of vaccination hesitancy and refusal often makes headlines in the media and worries health authorities. However, a new study by Dr. Anat Gesser-Edelsburg, Dr. Yaffa Shir-Raz and Prof. Manfred S. Green from University of Haifa, School of Public Health, published in the Journal of Risk Research suggests that even parents who are not "vaccine refusers" and who usually comply with the routine vaccination programs may hesitate or refuse to vaccinate their children based on poor communication from the relevant healthcare provider, as well as concerns about the safety of the vaccine.

In a new study recently published, Dr. Marsha Bensoussan found that a good student in the Department of Foreign Languages in the University of Haifa is actually a female student!
In her research on language learning and learning in higher education conducted on students in the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Haifa, Dr. Bensoussan, a senior lecturer in the Department , found that the profile of the best student is female, aged between 18-25 , or 41-65, native Israeli, whose father has had higher education. If the student is a new immigrant to Israel, the older she was when she moved to Israel, the better student she will be.
