Former Intel Israel President Shmuel (“Mooly”) Eden was appointed chairman of the University's Executive Committee. Eden, who was born in Haifa, served as CEO of Intel Israel and Vice-President of Global Intel until his retirement in 2015. Eden replaces Adm. (Ret.) Ami Ayalon, who has completed his period of office. “I am delighted to join the University of Haifa and to take part in defining and realizing our future strategies and in strengthening our status as an outstanding Israeli research university. Throughout my career, I have always been an advocate of creativity and excellence, and during my first few meetings with faculty members, I have been pleased to see that many of them share these values. The university of the future will be more challenging and multidisciplinary, blending the social sciences and humanities with advanced computer and analysis technologies. The pace of change presents us with some serious challenges, and our location in the north of Israel imposes additional civil and regional responsibilities on us,” Eden remarked.
