Her research interests include the sociology of consumption, sociology of culture, environmental sociology, household sustainability, and social stratification, with a methodological emphasis on cross-national and cross-time comparisons.
Prof. Katz-Gerro served as a visiting Professor at Sciences Po in Paris, Kyung Hee University in Seoul, University of Turku, Finland, University of Innsbruck in Austria, just to name a few. Between 2016-2019, Prof Katz-Gerro served as a faculty member at the University of Manchester.
She held several notable positions such as the Vice President of the Israel Sociological Society, Treasurer of the European Sociological Association, Chair of the European Sociological Association research network on Consumption, and co-editor-in-chief of the journal Poetics. She is the recipient of grants from the Israel Science Foundation, the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation, and Horizon 2020.
As Vice President for Global Engagement, a role she assumed in October 2024, she is devoted to developing international ties with academic institutions around the world and facilitation internationalization in research and in teaching. She creates a myriad of opportunities for scientific collaborations and partnerships. She also oversees the continued development of the International School, enhancing its role in attracting international students, supporting global learning opportunities, and promoting cross-cultural engagement across the University.
