Mr. Sharon Zaid
Vice President and CEO
Sharon Zaid was elected as the Vice President and CEO in 2022. A Colonel (in Res.) who remains active in reserve duty, he holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Haifa. He has over three decades of senior managerial experience in major industries. His extensive executive background includes serving as CEO of the Baran Group—Israel’s leading engineering group—where he orchestrated a strategic growth plan for the company’s multinational operations. He also held a key leadership position at the Bazan Group and served as Corporate Services Director for Intel Corporation, overseeing large-scale operations, construction, and logistics centers across Europe, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East.


Since 2018, Mr. Zaid has served as a public representative on the Executive Committee of the University of Haifa. This role has given him deep insight into the strategic processes taking place at the university—chief among them the vision that the university is committed to environmental and social sustainability for the future of humanity and Israeli society, in alignment with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


As Vice President and CEO, he is dedicated to safeguarding the university’s financial health while ensuring smooth, uninterrupted campus operations. His scope includes managing and expanding financial resources—demonstrated by the successful integration of the School of Design and similar future growth initiatives—as well as managing and developing human resources and physical infrastructure. Additionally, he is responsible for maintaining operational continuity and security (both physical and digital) in the face of ongoing regional and national challenges.
