Master’s degree in Anthropology
Anthropology explores the meaning people give to their lives and actions. Through observation of a wide range of phenomena, anthropological research enables us to understand the logic embedded within the social and cultural behavior of human beings. An M.A. in Anthropology is suited for those who wish to explore how meaning is created, how to communicate constructively in complex environments, and how to make professional knowledge accessible to others from diverse backgrounds.
The Department of Anthropology in Haifa is the only department in Israel that teaches anthropology exclusively. The department combines a strong foundation in social science with a clear humanistic perspective and attracts people from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. In addition, several semi-practical tracks, opening in the near future, will create an interface between anthropology and the fields of health and mental health on one hand, and activism for social change on the other.
