The programs of this department examine the political, social, economic, and cultural development of the European and American nations, and their Ancient Greek and Roman legacies and Christian culture. The relationships and ties of these countries with the other parts of the world are also discussed. The Ph.D. program’s goal is to equip students with historical research tools and to train researchers in the highest standards of independent research. To this end, students coordinate a personal curriculum, write a detailed research proposal, and then write a full dissertation.
