aria-hidden=\"false\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Music Department provides its students with the skills needed by 21st-century musicians. The Department provides students with both a broad and deep understanding of a wide range of subjects linked to the world of music. Students also learn musical skills (harmony, ear training, counterpoint), musicology (history and theory of Western music), world music, Arab music, music and technology, musical production, composition, jazz, and perform ensemble music in diverse styles. The Music curriculum is for students seeking an opportunity to acquire musical knowledge, enrich music listening, and enhance their music appreciation.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Department is located in the Hecht Arts Centre \u00a0which has state-of-the-art study rooms, including a digital lab, recording studio, and concert hall. Besides the regular curriculum, the department organizes a wide range of activities in a variety of creative channels, including a concert series, a composition competition, an ensemble with diverse musical styles, the Community Experience project\u2014music and workshops for communities of people with special needs, and many conferences. Psychometric Entrance Examination<\/a>\/ SAT or ACT.<br \/>3.<strong>Knowledge of English<\/strong>\u2013 The level of English is determined within the framework of the Psychometric Entrance Examination, the English Placement Tests (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nite.org.il\/other-tests\/english-level-placement-tests\/?lang=en\">AMIR \/AMIRAM<\/a>) or <a href=\"https:\/\/engfor.haifa.ac.il\/?p=71\">SAT, TOFEL, IELTS, ECRL <\/a>tests<strong>.<\/strong><br \/>The minimum level of English required for admission to the university is <strong>Basic <\/strong>(a score of at least 85). Certain departments require a higher level of English.<br \/>4. <strong>Knowledge of Hebrew<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Applicants who took the Psychometric Entrance Examination in a language other than Hebrew and graduated from high schools where the language of instruction was not Hebrew, must prove satisfactory knowledge of Hebrew before the beginning of the academic year by passing a Hebrew Proficiency Test (YAEL\/ YAELNET\/ Hebrew classification test of the University of Haifa* ). The score required for admission to the University of Haifa is a score of at least 120 on the YAEL\/ YAELNET\/ Hebrew classification tests.<br \/>Applicants whose scores on the YAEL\/ YAELNET\/Hebrew classification tests range from 90-119 and their Psychometric score was at least 500 will be conditionally admitted and will have to pass the Hebrew Proficiency Test at the required score by the end of the first year of their studies. These students also have the option of studying a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mechina.haifa.ac.il\/%d7%a7%d7%95%d7%a8%d7%a1%d7%99-%d7%90%d7%95%d7%a8%d7%99%d7%99%d7%a0%d7%95%d7%aa-%d7%a2%d7%91%d7%a8%d7%99%d7%aa\/\">Hebrew literacy course<\/a>\u00a0within the framework of the University of Haifa preparatory program (Mechina) .
